If you have fitted a performance exhaust with a sports cat or decat, you could run the risk of having an EML (engine management light) turning on. This is due to the fact that the o2 sensor is reading an increase in the CO2 readings from the enhanced gas flow, the ECU would identify this as a fault, despite this not being an actual fault, it will put a warning light on the dashboard.
Fitting an O2 spacer helps to solve this problem by spacing out the o2 sensor to the exhaust flow, this allows the o2 sensor to read the Co2 readings at the correct level.
There are various names for these devices. O2 spacers, O2 emulators, O2 Adaptors, and O2 extenders, there is no need to be confused, they all mean the same thing.
